Common Cause launched in 2005 as an alliance of republican movements in the Commonwealth. As this unique association of nations develops so too does Common Cause. We are committed to creating a network of cross-party republican movements in all the countries and territories in the Commonwealth that continue to have the British monarch as their head of state.

Common Cause is committed to the ideals of democracy and equality in our national constitutions. Member organisations are each working towards achieving non-monarchial constitutions based on the principles of democracy, accountability and transparency.
